Yes alain it works with a wide variety of file types, even movies providing the object youy drop onto has the same node type. VC and I both froze up trying to drop a movie onto a regular imageTexture though so that isn't good. LOL
Anyways here is an excerpt from the proto that lists all the types of files it will handle.
field SFString vrmlExtensions "wrl wrz x3d"
field SFString movieExtensions "avi mpg mpeg rm wma wmv gif asf ogg"
field SFString audioExtensions "wav mp3 ac3 wma"
field SFString imageExtensions "jpg jpeg png bmp dib dds ico cur"
field SFString shaderExtensions "vhl vsh fx"
field SFString webbrowserExtensions "htm html swf"
I was suprised that it will handle WMV files but not sure how that works with the vrml because usually the vrml nodes won't handle those.
Here is the url to Bob Crispen's Cone tree using this proto. It isn't much to look at but is very cool the functionality in it. I think maybe he was able to use every file type it was capable of. lol

Hello,
It's been awhile since I have posted to my blog so i figured I would add some more. Lately VC and I have been busy working on some new avatar designs and upgrades to avatar behaviors. When I am not busy doing that I have been working on a new project. It is going to be a vrml game of sorts but also I am going for a very graphically pleasing world. The game will consist of several levels and there will be dangers as well as puzzles to solve. I appologize in advance for any frustrations I may cause.
Below are some screenshots to give a taste of what level1 looks like:
<BR>
This may take some time as to the complexity of creating a game like environment but I will try to keep up to date on my blog a bit and share where I am at. Thus far as i have got most of level1 done and am working on level2. I have some great ideas in my head for level3 so I am on schedule!
L8R folks. be well  |
