The following Blaxxun communities are down:

www.blaxxun.com aka outers (died 1/1/2007)

www.virtualsolarsystem.com (died around november, server failure or closed down for good)

www.3dplanets.com (database error around the same time as outers) now closed for maintaince.

www.vrdimensions.com (died around the same time as outers, and was recently fixed before it went down)

In addition Cybertown was down over christmas to new year due to a planned server move. Oddessey also suffered from corruption of inboxes and messageboards.

Part of the problem seems to stem from server licenses which expire at the end of each year unless renewed. But I also suspect fowl play.

Obviously ABNet2 being different software is unlikely to have these sorts of problems. Rick have you had more interest in this site now ?

I did notice an uptick in users and the first thing I usually do
is to check if the blaxxun server was down, which it was.

VSS - owned by DWD is definately down. He was running
that out of his house and I think it had run his course so
he decided to shut it down.

Over the years I have had surges of interest. Many want to
have a free blaxxun platform. Which means they really want
structure and rules. ABNet isn't really about rules or limits.

Any plans to resurrect the "add my world" page which ABNet1 had ? Or is that a problem now in that it would fill the front page of your site with random worlds ?

It would be nice to have an index of other worlds to visit with ABNet2, perhaps searchable. But then all you need is the url so its really a list of normal wrls.

Actually the share my world never left. I just don't advertise it.

To launch a world from your web page just use:

http://vrmlworld.net/frameset.php?url=http://www.vrmlworlds.com/worlds/architecture/sceneload3.wrl

Just use the url of your x3d or vrml world as the argument
to the url parameter.

As far as the list, I do limit it to the most active top 25 worlds.
So that really isn't an issue. My vision is that there would be
a huge list available if you wanted it but only the top worlds
that had activity would actually show up.

http://vrmlworld.net/s.php shows the top 25 sorted by user count

http://vrmlworld.net/s.php?output=XML - same thing but in xml format

http://vrmlworld.net/s.php?output=XML&nStatus=-1 - list of all worlds added in XML format

http://vrmlworld.net/s.php?output=XML&nStatus=-1&sort_by=2 - list of all worlds sorted by worldid

http://vrmlworld.net/s.php?nStatus-1&sort_by=1 - list of all worlds sorted by user count

Using the xml output you could easily add the searching capability yourself.
